3/16/20 Studio Update with School Closures

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

Together we will take a breath... and go on...

An update for our dear Movement, Mindfulness and Me community,

What a weekend it has been!  So much has developed since our last email not even a week ago.  We hope in the midst of this unpredictable situation your families continue to find some love, peace and calm in your homes as you prepare for the upcoming days ahead.

We have taken a look at all that has occurred and with great consideration we have decided that the key components of what makes us "us" is needed by our families more now than ever.  In that light, we have decided not to close our doors- yet to modify how we keep them open to accommodate as many of our clients as possible.

Below you will find a description of how we plan to honor the current circumstances and move forward in each of area of our practice. As always please feel free to call us at the studio or contact us via email at anytime.

8 Week Children's and Tween Sessions:
  • Classes will continue this week Monday through Friday to complete our 1st week of the 8 week session that began on Saturday. All activities at the studio will proceed with all additional cleaning and previously described procedures in place.
  • All classes have less than 8 children enrolled in each class. When weather permits parts of class may occur outside.
  • We will follow all increased cleaning protocols and changes as outlined in the email sent on 3/11/20.
  • Following this weeks classes, we will honor the need for social distancing and postpone our Children's and Tween classes by two weeks.  This postponement will bring us to the scheduled FMSD Spring Break providing a third week out of the studio. Classes will end on Friday March 20th and we will take a break from Saturday March 21st through Monday April 13th.
  • Two additional weeks will be added at the end of the current Spring 2020 session preserving the 8 Week structure of our Spring 2020 session.
  • Of course, any children signed up for classes are encouraged to stay home if coughing or sick this week.
  • Students will continue to be given extra reminders to wash hands before and after class, no hands on assists or activities will be included in this weeks classes and students will not be encouraged to share materials as in past classes.
  • Stay tuned for potential announcements of outdoor classes for all age groups during the current school closures. We are working on the concept of these classes and will share shortly- thank you!

Adult Classes:
  • Our adult class schedule will be reduced this upcoming week however we will continue to run classes and reassess on a daily basis.
  • Classes on our schedule will have the opportunity to be taken in person as well as virtually.
  • In person classes will be limited to 6 participants to keep a safe social distance between students.
  • To attend any class simply register online as usual and if you desire to take the class virtually from home simply call the studio and let us know - leaving your email address as well. You will receive an invitation to the class in your inbox shortly.
  • A class meeting will be created for each class. All students at home will be muted to lessen the distractions from within the home environment for other participants.
  • We look forward to continuing to share the many benefits of a regular yoga practice - improved mood and emotional regulation, both of which are associated with reductions in the stress hormone cortisol just to name a couple. Studies show that yogis feel this even after a single class... so we hope that you will continue to practice along with us through these times.
Massage:
  • Massage appointments will be honored at this time.
  • If you desire to cancel or change your appointment please call the studio
  • Daily assessments will be made as the situation progresses and any changes will be communicated to anyone with a scheduled appointment.

We are inserting the message from our earlier email on 3/11... we truly stand by this message and feel that it is worth repeating.   "On another note, a local leader in yoga education recently reminded us that times like this present us with an opportunity to self-reflect, deepen our awareness, raise our vibration, create supportive community, and develop new visions for ourselves and our communities – we may miss these opportunities if we allow ourselves to be swept up entirely in any form of panic.

There is definitely a place for each person’s yoga practice in these uncertain and stressful times. Of course, yoga is not the medical solution for the virus, but it certainly can help us feel better during the crisis. Finding ways to come “together” either in person or remotely may be critical for us to find moments of peace and support in the upcoming weeks."

As always we encourage each family to do what they feel is best for their family members as this issue progresses.

We are staying informed of local and national updates.  We will make updates to this email and communicate with you as procedures change.
