-Yoga improves the mood, behavior, and mindfulness of high school students taking yoga classes in addition to PE than students taking PE alone (yoga classes helps high school students). It has been shown to improve workplace well-being and resilience (The Effectiveness of Yoga for Well Being in the Workplace).
-Yoga has been shown to increase the level of gamma-aminobutyric acid, or GABA, a chemical in the brain that helps to regulate nerve activity. This is especially relevant to people who have anxiety disorders in which GABA activity is low. Read More Here

Yoga, like any sport, instrument or hobby is a practice. It takes some time for any student to know the terminology, the movements and to feel proficient at the classes. We encourage our teens to stick with it and accept that they are new to something offering grace and kindness to themselves as they learn and see if they do indeed "like" yoga!
The classes and practice teach us to be patient with ourselves first, on and off the mat, then patient with others. Students learn to find the "just right challenge" physically and in time how to handle challenges off the yoga mat using the breathing techniques and mindset learned in classes.
